Mike Thomas uses a digital 35 mm camera for the majority of his current photography — although he also owns and uses a Pentax, K1000, a Minolta Dimage 7HI and a Brownie Bullet. The photographs reflect Mike’s ‘what-you-see’ approach to his art. The color, brightness and contrast remain unenhanced and closely capture a lush sense of the area. Mike never shoots between 10:00 in the morning and 2-3:00 in the afternoon — avoiding harsh sun. The subject of most of his photography lives all within a quarter of a mile of the downtown Rockport area. Harborview Gallery at times offers 3 or more variations on certain themes which include full-color unenhanced, painted and black and white versions of the original raw photograph. Mike uses his own program to fuse the natural colors in his work — creating a unique depth and softness. Each photograph is printed on archival museum-quality. Harborview uses chromium-based inks that will last for 70 to 100 years. Limited-edition, numbered photographs are available and come with a letter of authenticity. Photos can be ordered with or without matte and frame. |
